Privacy Policy
Ingrediently respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We only collect what we need to run your Smart Pantry, and we never sell your data.
What information we collect
Account details (your name and email), and the data you create while using the app: pantry items, shopping lists, meal plans, saved recipes, preferences (language, region, accessibility), feedback reports, and any screenshots you choose to attach to feedback.
Why we collect it
To provide and improve the service — keeping your pantry in sync, suggesting recipes, sending the reminders and emails you opt into, and understanding aggregate usage so we can make Ingrediently better.
AI image analysis
When you use the AI Pantry Scan, your photo is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to identify items. Photos are processed in memory to detect ingredients and are not stored by Ingrediently after analysis.
Pantry, shopping lists & meal plans
These are stored against your account so they're available across your sessions. You can edit or delete them at any time, or delete everything by deleting your account.
Account information & email
We store your name, email and a securely hashed password. Transactional and opt-in emails are sent from apps@northwesternliving.com. You can manage email preferences and turn reminders off any time in Settings.
Feedback reports & uploaded screenshots
When you send feedback or report a problem, we store your message together with context (the page you were on, language, region, browser/device, app version and timestamp). If you tick “Include a screenshot”, the captured image is uploaded to secure object storage and linked to your report to help us diagnose issues. Screenshots are never taken without your action.
Cookies & local storage
We use essential cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences (language, region, onboarding state). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted providers: OpenAI (AI image and recipe analysis), MongoDB (database hosting), Resend (transactional email), Open Food Facts (barcode product data), and Emergent object storage (feedback screenshots). Data shared with them is limited to what each service needs to function.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA/UK you have the right to access, correct, export, restrict or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent for optional emails. We act as the data controller for the information you provide.
Deleting your account & data
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Help & feedback → Delete account. This immediately and permanently removes your account, pantry, shopping lists, meal plans, saved recipes, feedback reports, session data and all personal data associated with you. You can also email apps@northwesternliving.com to request deletion.
